About Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is opened year round. General admission starts at 09:00. When you are staying at a Disney hotel you can get early access most days.
Closing times vary depending on the season and is usually between 21:00 and 22:00. On select days the park may close early (16:30) or close at 18:00 to reopen at 19:00 for special holiday themed events.
Check the operating schedule for 2018 for more details on opening and closing times.
Walt Disney World Resort is located southwest of Orlando, off Interstate 4, west of Florida’s Turnpike. On the I-4 take the relevant Walt Disney World Exit.
Take exit 64 if you are heading to the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studio’s. For Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach you’d do best to take Exit 65 and exit 67 will lead you to Epcot, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney Springs and the Boardwalk. After the exit just follow the signs for the park you will be visiting.

Take Florida’s Turnpike South to Interstate 4 West to Walt Disney World Resort Exits
Standard parking for a car or motorcycle costs $22 per day. If you are driving a camper or other oversized vehicle parking will be $27 per day.From the car park you hop on a shuttle to take you to the entrance of the theme park. If you wish to park closer to the park entrance you can opt for preferred parking, which will cost $45 per day for a car or motorcycle.
There are a select number of parking spaces with charging points for electrical cars. Due to the limited availability it’s on a first come first serve basis. To use the ChargePoint you need a credit card of pre-ordered ChargePoint card. The charging costs are $0,35 per kWh, with a minimum of $1,50. Animal Kingdom offers 4 ChargePoint spaces.
Explore Animal Kingdom
Discovery Island is home to the Wilderness Explorers, where you can complete challenges and earn badges. Start here on the Discovery Island Trails and work your way through the park to become a real Wilderness Explorer.
Meet lemurs, otters and cotton-top marin in the area surrounding the magical tree of life. During the evening show the Tree of Life comes to life by spectacular light effects. On the Discovery river you can also enjoy the light show River of Light in the evenings.
Pandora – World of Avatar
If you loved the movie Avatar you will love Pandora! Even if you’ve never seen the movie before this land will enchant you. The World of Avatar is home to “Na’vi River Journey” and “Avatar flight of passage”. Both experiences take you further into the wonderful world of Pandora.
Wander around Pandora to enjoy the amazing landscape and try some of the “local” food and delicacies at Satu’li Canteen or Pongu Pongu.
Meet the Lion King, go on safari and explore on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. Here in Africa you can wander around a african village on the way to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Learn how you can save the world by boarding the Wildlife Express train to the conservation station and the affection section.
You get to meet plenty of animals while you are in Africa, such as elephants, gorilla’s, giraffes, zebras and hippos.
Before you move on to another continent be sure to grab some fresh fruit in the Harambe Fruit Market.
There is plenty to do in Asia. Meet tigers, gibbons, komodo dragons and dozens of exotic birds. You can even meet a Yeti. Or you may prefer running from Big-Foot on your Expedition on Everest. Jump on a raft for the ride of your life at “Kali River Rapids” before embarking on a trek through the Asian jungle.
In Asia you also have wonderful views of the Tree of Life and the Rivers of Light in the evenings.
Who doesn’t have a fascination with Dinosaurs? Head on over to Dinorama for some amazingly themed rides like TriceraTop Spin and Primeval Whirl. Dinorama is only a small part of Dinoland, which is like a carnival. But you can also enjoy the “Boneyard” a large playground among a dinosaur dig.
Enjoy the Finding Nemo musical or a DINOSAUR, a prehistoric ride through the dark.
How about meeting some real dinosaurs? Well, they’re really crocodiles, but close enough right?

Na'vi River Journey
Climb on board of your reed boat and gently drift downstream to start your expidition through the jungle. Enjoy the luminescent landscape as you search for the Na’vi Shaman.
Avatar Flight of Passage
During this exhilirating 3D ride you get to fly around Pandora on the back of a Mountain Banshee. Flying on the back of a Banshee is an important rite of passage on Pandora, and now you can experience it too.
Kali River Rapids
Hang on tight, you are going for an amazing ride through a lush jungle landscape. Venture through a centuries-old temple, past erupting geysers and towards your descent down the mountain. Get ready to get wet.
Make your way past Himalayan Escapes to board the beaten rollercoaster-train for a once in a life time trip to the top of Mount Everest. Once on the mountain be sure to stay out the Yeti’s hands and race back to safety as quickly as possible.
Hop inside the time machine that is Primeval Whirl. This rollercoaster doesn’t just climb and dip, it also whirls! You climb through the rings of the time machine before diving into the past.
Jump in your own, very cute, little dinosaur. While the Triceratops goes around in circles you can make the dino bob up and down, forward and back to make the ride even more exciting.
Take a joyride aboard your Time Rover and try and save a dinosaur from extinction. Your mission is to go into the past, save the Iguanodon and take it back to our time. Are you up for it?
It's Tough to be a Bug
This live 3-D show will give you a glimpse into the life of a bug. This off-off Bugway show combines film with live effects to give you the perfect bug experience.
Jump on the open-air vehicle for you expedition into the lush African savanna. As you venture into Harambe Wildlife Reserve you will meet elephants, giraffes and hippos. Which other animals can you spot?
Animal Experiences at Animal Kingdom
You can spend the entire day earning badges for your work as a Wildnerness Explorer all around the park. There are over 30 challenges for you to complete.
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail
Follow the meandering trail and encounter exotic animals as you hike through the heart of Africa. Though the name suggest you only meet gorilla’s on your path, the truth is that to get to the gorilla you have to meet a lot of other African wildlife too.
Maharajah Jungle Trek
The wild of Asia awaits on this self-guided walking tour. Hike through Anandapur Royal Forest and witness the majestic tigers roaming around and the exotic birds fly around the jungle. You can also spot a dragon, a komodo dragon that is.
Shows and Entertainment at Animal Kingdom
Festival of the Lion King
Join Simba and his friends on this musical adventure through the Savannah. To the soundtrack of the movie the dansers and puppeteers create a festival you will want to be part of again and again.
Finding Nemo - the musical
This show is a 40-minute mini musical full of humor and the characters of Finding Nemo. It brings the oceans to live with puppets and vibrant sets. You will not want to miss the chance to meet Nemo, Crush and Dory in real life.
Tree of Life Awakenings
The centerpiece of the Animal Kingdom comes to life at night. Watch the animal spirits gather on the tree in this festival of light, color and music. You can catch the show every 10 minutes, starting after dark until the park closes.
Rivers of Light
As the sunlight fades and the stars begin to twinkle the Discovery river begins to respond to the sounds of the world. This vibrant light show is awash with special effects, music and folklore. The show runs on select times, so be sure to check in advance.
Getting around Animal Kingdom
In the Park
Everything in the park is within walking distance. To travel between the parks, you can take one of the regular buses that travel via the on-site resorts as well.
Staying at one of the on-site hotels?
There is a regular bus service that operates between all resorts and the different parks. You can also take the ferry to get from your hotel to the park.
